Twitter Data Breach. Change your password now.

Twitter-Square

Another day, another data breach – this time Twitter.

Twitter today urged all users to change their passwords. Why? Because they had discovered passwords being written, unencrypted, to an internal log file.

You can read more about what exactly happened in this Twitter blog post.
Twitter stress there is no evidence of a data leak, or of misuse of this information, but advise people to change passwords, enable two factor authentication, and to use a password manager to create strong, unique passwords.

Accidents happen. I’ve stumbled across passwords in a log file before! But it’s great to see the advice remains the same. I’ve just used my password manager to automatically change my password for me (whilst I write this blog entry!).

If you’d like to learn more about using a password manager #CallTheGeek and I can help.
